WSMD Fall 2023 “SOS” Initiative

“Special Outreach Solutions” for RIPPLE OF ONE

In 2010, a not-for-profit program known as “Ripple of One” began in Oconee County with the goal of helping to alleviate the pressing problem of poverty in the Upstate.  The program’s vision is to “Empower families and young adults to gain financial freedom and not be dependent on public assistance. Our mission is to walk alongside our participants, taking each step with them on their journey to independence. “

Each participant in the program is assigned a support team that consists of a mentor, financial coach, and health coach.  This successful program lasts two years for participants, and combines education, mentoring and incentives.  Generational success is achieved by working with the whole family unit. Even younger family members, referred to as “Little Ripplers”, learn fundamental life skills via a “MONEY MATTERS” class, which is geared to each specific age group.  By learning and adopting solid habit-forming choices, participants can achieve a better and independent way of life, which, in time, can help break the cycle of poverty and uplift communities in need.

This fall, Wanda S. Morgan Designs, Inc. (WSMD) will be partnering with “Ripple of One” to do another SOS (“Special Outreach Solutions”) program.  Currently, these “Little Ripplers”, ranging from K4 to high school in the Oconee, Anderson, Pickens, and Greenville counties, are getting ready to start a new academic school year.

Beginning today until August 1, 2023, WSMD will be collecting school supplies for their students.  WSMD will be accepting new and used backpacks, along with any school-related supplies such as pencils, color pencils, notebooks, notebook paper, composition notebooks, pens, glue sticks, markers, crayons, individual Kleenex packs, hand sanitizer, etc. Items can be brought to our design studio during business hours (Mon. – Fri., 9a to 5p).

Your generous donations are immeasurable no matter the amount and will make a difference in the lives of others, lightening the load of a parent who may be otherwise struggling.

WSMD hopes you will consider supporting and joining another great SOS event.  Our “SOS” initiative is one way we can build a better community.  We hope you will join us!
